SHORT FILM LAUNCH

& FESTIVAL STRATEGY CONSULTATION

YOU SURVIVED PRODUCTION.
YOU SURVIVED POST.
NOW YOU GET TO SURVIVE DISTRIBUTION… everyone’s favorite part of filmmaking.

This consultation is built for film students and first-time filmmakers who know their project shouldn’t just live on a hard drive or their “my short filmz” folder on Google Drive forever. I’ll help you get it in front of actual humans — festivals, events, YouTube, and those hyper-specific niche streamers you’ve probably never heard of.

People at a social event using a laptop and camera, with a woman in headphones leaning over the laptop, and others chatting in the background.

👨🏽‍🎓 Who Should Book This

  • Film students whose friends are tired of being your entire audience

  • First-time directors who want a festival laurel on their resume

  • Anyone who doesn’t know what “distribution strategy” means but nods anyway

🎥 What You’ll Leave With

  • A survival-guide roadmap: Festivals → Niche Streaming → YouTube Premiere

  • A plan that actually matches your film’s vibe

  • Assets you can reuse for your next masterpiece

  • Slightly less existential dread

THIS IS Todd FOOLERY

Filmmaker • ACTOR • Professional “Let Me Fix Your Film Launch” Guy

Todd Foolery (aka Todd A. Jackson) is an award-winning actor, filmmaker, creative strategist, and multi-hyphenate problem-solver who’s somehow managed to turn years of chaos, hustle, and indie filmmaking into a functional system that actually helps people.

A film school alum (San Diego State, bayy-beeee), Todd has spent years producing, writing, editing, and distributing original content (often wearing all four hats at the same time because #indiefilmmaking). He’s best known for creating and releasing his dramedy series UNREQUITED, which racked up over 130,000 organic views on YouTube in under 12 months with zero paid ads, zero gimmicks, and zero sleep. In addition, he’s built relationships with several niche festivals & streaming platforms, and served on the 2025 NYC Web Fest jury panel. Not only has he learned how to beat the algorithm, but he also keeps an eye out for emerging filmmakers and teaches them how to do the same.

But Todd’s experience isn’t just behind the camera. Since 2018, he’s also worked with Seeds Training, creating event highlight reels & assisting with workshops for thousands of students & educators around the world. He’s also part of the 2025 GLAAD Black Queer Creative Summit cohort, which means he actively collaborates with a community of storytellers pushing for better, richer queer representation. Translation: he knows how to communicate with people, keep large groups engaged, and help young creatives find their voice without breaking into a panic sweat. Years of facilitation taught him patience, clarity, and how to wrangle a room full of teenagers (which, honestly, might be harder than filmmaking).

Todd has spent his career working with all kinds of people, actors, students, executives, creatives, and even the “I have a vision but no plan” types, and he knows how to meet each person where they are. Whether you’re a film student exporting your thesis at 3AM or a new director staring at a festival portal wondering what a premiere status even is, Todd’s been there… and he knows how to get you through it.

Now, he uses his mix of filmmaking experience, audience strategy, and people-first communication to help emerging creators launch their work with confidence… and maybe even enjoy the process a little.

WHAT’S INCLUDED

(AKA WHY THIS MATTERS)

🎟️ FESTIVAL STRATEGY

Let’s find festivals that:

  • Actually screen your genre

  • Won’t ask you to sell an organ for the submission fee

  • Might have judges who aren’t asleep

  • Might put you in the same room as someone who has a job

Plus:

  • Polishing your synopsis and logline so programmers don’t fall asleep mid-sentence

  • A submission timeline so you don’t miss every deadline… again

🌐 WEIRDLY SPECIFIC STREAMING OUTLETS

Netflix probably isn’t calling. No shade.

But guess what? There are streaming platforms made exactly for:

  • Queer sci-fi musicals

  • Grungy student horror

  • Meditative short films about grapes as metaphors for capitalism

  • …you get it.

AND THEY WILL SOMETIMES PAY YOU TO LICENSE YOUR SHORT! I’ll help you land on the platforms where your audience already lurks.

📢 SOCIAL MEDIA MOMENTUM

We’ll craft a launch strategy that says: “Look at my art,”

NOT

“Please validate me, I’m begging you.”

Includes:

  • Clip/still selection (no shaky hallway shots, promise)

  • Captions that don’t read like film school poetry

  • Hashtags that actually work

Because YouTube isn’t “just dump it and pray” & your ART deserves strategy.

You’ll get:

  • A clickable title that doesn’t sound like a thesis paper

  • An expertly written description as easy as copy & paster

  • Keywords that help the algorithm find your film (and love it)

  • Proper tags… yes, they still matter

Thumbnail guidance: faces + emotion = clicks

▶️ YOUTUBE OPTIMIZATION

🎨 CREATIVE LAUNCH ASSETS

If you want to look legit:

A cinematic poster that doesn’t scream: “Made in Canva at 3AM during finals week.”

EPK (Electronic Press Kit)
Everything festivals and streamers expect:

  • Director’s statement (yes, you’ll sound smart)

  • Cast & crew info

  • Stills that aren’t pulled from behind-the-scenes bloopers

  • Awards section (manifesting counts)

Use these to trick people into thinking you have a full marketing team 😉

$749

  • A fully designed poster in your chosen aesthetic

  • A real EPK — not the one made in Google Docs with questionable stills

  • A social media promo kit (multiple captions, hooks, clip strategy)

  • YouTube upload support + algorithm-friendly tricks

  • A live strategy session where we pretend the industry is sane

🎓 STUDENT DISCOUNT POLICY

Because I went to film school, I support education, and also fully remember being broke:

STUDENTS SAVE 25–35%

Verified with:

  • School ID

  • Official .edu email

  • Or simply by saying, “I shot my final thesis film on a camera my school still hasn’t updated since 2012.”

Film crew working in a dimly lit studio with a large camera crane and bright light on a set, surrounded by crew members.

(I WANT TO HELP! So, if these prices are still too steep for you as a student, please reach out! I’m willing to work with you if your project has the potential to go far 😊)
